Aurora Borealis in Slovenia
On 10 May, the evening sky turned purple and green over half the world. We could even see it even from Slovenia!
Since I had missed the strongest wave in the evening, me and my dad planned to wake up at 2 am the other day and visit a small hill above Ljubljana (between "Sveta Katarina" and "Sveti Jakob"), from where you could see the north and where we expected less light pollution.
When we drove to this place, all I saw were the city lights and a pitch-black sky. I spoke to Aurora and asked her to please show herself, at least for a moment or two. In return, I would write her a poem.
The sky turned pink (with a little help from the camera) and the lights made for a night I'll never forget.
FRIENDS FROM THE NORTH
The night felt just right,
Woke up after two,
look - a hedgehog too!
Once all black,
Turned purple and pink,
The shimmering sky
Showered us with pure bliss.
Friends from the North
Swam in the milk,
The magic of the lights
Reminded us why we live.
A swift goodbye,
as the Sun kissed the Moon,
Aurora, we love you –
Please, come visit soon!
When eyes closed at five,
I entered the space,
Where forever remains
The night's magical glow.
