Hot Chocolate Without Cacao
the name of the following recipe doesn’t make any sense, right? Let me explain with a little story. A few years ago, there was a time when I was preparing myself a thick HOT CHOCOLATE made of cacao, (plant-based) milk, banana, and chia seeds. I had it every evening and just loved it. my mom became a specialist in preparing the most delicious one. one day she said she decided to stop drinking it with me because it makes her too awake in the evening (because of the cacao), it made me think. what about having the same kind of drink without cocoa? Yes!!! It turned out great, and i loved having it before trainings since it gives you a fresh dose of energy. here it is - the recipe for my version of “hot chocolate”, which you can, of course, make also with cacao. <3
Ingredients
For a cup:
1 medium banana
water (200 ml)
plant-based milk (100 ml)
chia seeds (1,5 tbsp)
*optional: cacao, coconut flour, goji berries, hemp seeds …
Method
In a smaller pot, combine water and plant-based milk. Cut a peeled banana into smaller pieces and put them in the pot. Bring to a boil and add chia seeds. Cook at medium heat for about 6 minutes. When the chia seeds become slimy, remove from heat and blend the mixture with a stick blender until you rich a thick, relatively uniform consistency. If you wish, add cacao and additional ingredients to your liking.
